Dying Tree
Finally, I managed to get outdoors with a friend. It was a nice bright sunny day, we had to deal with a nasty windchill but I did manage a good amount of decent pictures.
Today's shot is certainly not the prettiest picture, but I wanted to post it because it is very interesting. This is another jackpine tree and it will soon die, it has had most of it's bark peeled off. You may ask "What kind of vandal would peel bark off a tree?" Not a vandal at all, just a porcupine who needs to eat.

The snow is pretty.. but I definately like springs and summer better..
Interesting Chuck! I have never seen a pine stripped down like this.
Looks like some nice weather. I love the cold as this. Clear and sunny. We get really no snow here. Good shot!

Yes the complexity of lifes circles is a very marvelous thing. Survival is the essence of all life and usually one life is dependant upon another or a multitude of others. Its what makes the world what it is and I marvel at the harmony of nature for being the ever present reminder of the what harmony can create.
The colours in the tree look great with the white snow in the background! cheers
that is ...life circle.
I have too a big pine in my garden that is dying, it was planted by my late father 33 years ago.
That is sad Lino.
Great bit of natural history Chuck. You know I'm a sucker for that sort of thing. I had no idea porcupines would climb trees. Great photo too!
